Addiction Treatment Plan

Create a custom treatment plan that caters to your recovery goals!

Recovery is unique for every person seeking to recover from a substance use disorder. However, there are several steps that anyone can take to get your recovery off to a good start. By first evaluating your needs, we can sketch out a plan that includes developing a support structure to help you manage problems and triggers.

Setting quantifiable goals will allow you to appreciate your progress and accomplishments along the way.

We use lab test results to assist in making a substance use disorder diagnosis, and also in evaluating the associated physical harm from alcohol or substance use, the usefulness of laboratory testing results is limited.

Detoxification and Medically Managed Withdrawal – involves helping the client’s body to clear itself of the harmful toxins that accumulate in their bodies due to prolonged abuse of drugs and alcohol. Due to the acute and potentially dangerous physiological effects that result from sudden stopping drug use, we use special medication to help the patient manage the effects of the withdrawal and to flush out the toxins that have accumulated in their bodies. This process is administered by our doctors and nurses and is key in sobering up the client and preparing him or her for the next stage of treatment called the psycho-social treatment stage.

One-on-one psychosocial counseling focuses on identifying the root causes of substance use and addressing them so that the dependent client can eventually stop the use of illicit drugs or alcohol. It also addresses issues related to impaired functioning — such as career growth, family and social relations, as well as key aspects of the client’s journey to full recovery. Through its emphasis on attainment of set behavioural goals, individualized counselling helps the client develop coping strategies and tools to abstain from drug use and maintain abstinence. Our addiction counselors use the 12-steps program for rehabilitation and make internal referrals for needed supplemental services such as psychiatric care when our in-house psychiatrist attends to all cases requiring mental health care.

Most of the issues surrounding addiction to alcohol and drugs emanate and perpetuate within the addict’s family. At Beta Care Rehabilitation and Treatment Center, we involve the family intensively in our treatment programs. Family therapy sessions are occasions to counsel the whole family and get an in-depth understanding of their family member’s addiction and how to treat it.

Our group therapy capitalizes on the social reinforcement offered by peer discussions to help individuals to promote drug-free lifestyles. Research has shown that when group therapy is offered in conjunction with individualized counselling, positive outcomes are achieved.

Our nutritionists and dieticians ensure all our patients’ dietary requirements are fulfilled as they undergo treatment for healthy recuperation.

Our residential treatment programme is highly structured, with activities designed to help the patients to examine damaging beliefs, self-concepts, and destructive patterns of behaviour and adopt new, more harmonious and constructive ways to interact with others. Besides helping the patients to appreciate the value of their professional skills (some of our patients are highly learned and experienced professionals), we also assist the patients to rediscover their passions and talents, including arts, music, and sports, through regularly scheduled and unscheduled self motivated activities (such as sports, exercise). These help the individual develop ways of relaxing and focusing on positive things (alternative activities) to improve social skills and responsible recreational interactions.

The last two weeks of the in-patient rehabilitation program involve preparing the client for discharge. This includes addressing the clients’ fears and weakness, assessing progress, organizing family meeting and sessions, determining aftercare support, planning follow-ups, determining the readiness for discharge, and setting discharge date. If one is not ready for discharge, the counselors and psychiatrist (through the psychiatric review) determine why and make definite recommendations for continuation (what areas need attention, duration required for continuity, any viable changes in the treatment plan, etc.)

We also focus on”re-socialising” the individual into a normal productive life after treatment. The approach is based on the understanding of addiction as shortcomings in an individual’s social and psychological approach to life, and so treatment focuses on developing personal accountability and responsibility as well as socially productive lifestyles. After completion of the residential treatment programme, we encourage the clients to remain engaged in outpatient treatment programs or mutual support groups near their homes, such as Alcoholic Anonymous. These programs help to reduce the risk of relapse once a patient leaves the residential setting.

Reintegrating into everyday society is a vital element of the rehabilitation process, as the clients’ newly acquired values, behaviours, and attitudes are put to the test in the outside environment. Beta Care Hospital Rehab prepares recovering addicts for this challenge by helping them develop tools and confidence to be able to withstand negative influences and to cope with the stresses of mainstream society.
